Because their pancreas don't produce enough insulin, or their body has become insulin resistant.
But seriously, nobody knows the exact cause of diabetes, or else maybe we would have a cure for it by now. Genetics and obesity are thought to be contributing factors in some types of diabetes. Eating too much sugar has not been proven to be a factor at this time. There are also different types of diabetes, type 1, type 2, and gestational diabetes. Even kids sometimes become diabetic.

My husband is insulin dependent type 1...his pancreas in DEAD...has totally no function, that is why he is a diabetic. He is not overweight, always has maintained a healthy diet and tends to be a workaholic...gets plenty of exercise.

we all have certain sugar levels in the blood - from the food we eat (rice, noodles, bread, donuts, candy, etc) usually, the body will keep that level balanced, but some individuals do not or can not maintain that level of blood sugar and that's how diabetes develop

When someone had diabetes, it means that their body cannot regulate the ammount of sugar in the bloodstream. The pancreas usually has a very hard time changing the energy from food into enegy, (Insulin), that the body can use.

diabetes is because you have too much sugar in your system or you have low insulin content.

Genetics
Eat too much unhealthy food for a long period of time and no calories are burn.
Do not participate with any activities that help shape up the body.

cos the pancreas can't convert the sugar into insulin in the blood.it's normally inherited from parents or grandparents.
