Having a visible six pack is more a matter of diet than of exercise, but both are important. Definitely eat smart. A really effective ab exercise (and painful--how hard to you want to work? LOL) is this: lie on your back on a bench, put a light dumbbell between your feet, and do leg raises. Don't lift your legs too high, you don't want to drop the dumbbell on your head. Just a foot or two higher than parallel.

Abs are like any other muscle group in your body. They need time to repair after a workout. ie: you don't work your chest every day.... Abs are the same. If you want your Abs to show, diet would be a good place to start.... By reducing the fat around your waist, your Abs will start to become more prominent.

You can work out the body parts that get a lot of use each day, like claves and abs and forearms, every day.
Best not to use machines. do crunches in reg and twisting forms. Do hanging and flat leg raises and you will get super fast results.

You sit down with leg holder in front. weights should be on your right. Pull up legs to straight position.
Start with 2 sets of 10. Use comfortable weight. Your upper thigh and abs should feel tight

There is a machine called "Back extension" or "Low back"; essentially, when you use it, you do sit-ups while pushing weights around.
