Thinning hair can happen for a variety of reasons. Since you mention that you just had a baby, I venture to guess that hormones could have something to do with it. I experienced the same kind of thing when I had some hormonal changes. If this is the case, the good news is that your hair will grow back. In my case, my hair grew back thick and beautiful, too! All you can do is wait out the hormonal changes. Maybe see an endocrinologist and/or gynecologist, to make sure your hormones are balanced out properly after the pregnancy, but more than likely, it is just a stage your body is going through and it will change soon.
Good luck.... I sympathize with you!

YOu should go get a check up and see if your hormones or at normal level. It could be due to stress or vitamin deficiency or some other ailment, also. There is also femal pattern baldness or alopecia. There are some products out there that may help, but I would only use them after you get checked by dr. to make sure nothing else is going on. There is rogaine for women, there is foltene ampules, and vichy dermocol ampules. The last two are highly popular in europe. Ive seen the male version of product have pretty good effect on male so I would try if ever have this problem.

I have the same exact problem. After my first son was born, and now my second.
The doctor says it is a condition called alapecia (thinning hair). I even went to a dermatolgist.
He said you can do things to slow the thinning (like Rogain for women, Nioxin treatments/shampoo--but NOTHING will make it grow back--he says)
So I try not to get stressed out (so much easier said than done) and try to use the Nioxin.
If you are put on an auto-immune drug like one for Lupus--then your hair actually will grow back.
You could also have Lupus or another autoimmune disorder, but probably not.
My doctor says lots of women go thru this after childbirth.
Wishing you the best!

That is very common after having a baby or during pregnancy. It is because the baby takes up a lot of your calcium which also explains why women have a lot of dental problems during pregnancy. It could also be from dying your hair (I don't know if that applies to you), but you should take a womans daily vitamin and use Pantene ProV. It is a little more expensive than other shampoos but it works miracles with all kinds of hair. hope that helps. Good luck

With a new son it may be hormonal changes, or it could be caused by stress. Wearing your hair up does sometimes result in thinning hair especially if it is bound tightly. There are many vitamins and special shampoos that you can use to help stop the thinning and allow new hair to grow.

how long ago did you have your son? because i have naturally thin hair. and i didn't notice it get any thicker when i was pregnant with my son (other people noticed but i thought they were just crazy). well about 5 months after havin him i just started losin it like crazy. it clogged our shower's drain so bad we had to call the maintenance guy and he pulled out a ball bigger than a softball. every time I vaccuumed the floor it pulled up so much hair it almost filled the vaccuum. it was crazy how much hair i lost. I couldn't believe it. and it took me almost a year to finally stop shedding all my extra hair. but trust me...it will stop. and if it doesn't at about a year after your son's birth then go ask your doctor. until then don't worry...it's what us women have to go through.

first, check your shampoo. If it does not have any problem, you should think about the way that you wash your hair. May be you used too much pressure and wash for a long time

It could be hormonal since you say it started after you had your son.
You could also be having thyroid problems. If it continues, go to the doctor. They can do blood work to check your thyroid. If that is what is causing your hair loss, they will then prescribe medication to help control your thyroid.
Good luck.

hair is made of protein. if you are taking in less then 64 gms daily of protein, this could be your problem. other common causes that can cause hair to fall out in clumps are; stress, skin ailments, hypothyroidism, and female pattern baldness.
