My right knee hurts all the time! I think it's arthritis (that's what my doctor said it probably was). It hurts a lot when I'm walking. I haven't found a pain reliever that works yet. I'm wondering if there's anything else I can do for it. I can't go to the doctor because we don't have any insurance, and I don't know if there's a free clinic in this area. And I have Phy-Ed everyday, and I can't get out of that without a doctor's note. What can I do?

Try this: go to your school nurse, explain the situation and tell her you're spooked by where it could go if you're forced to continue with gym minus some serious medical attention. If your parent(s) can't think of a way to confront it, the school is obligated to at least point you towards a clinic rather than participating in hurting you. They have many mechanisms in place to prevent such things from hurting students, so take heart; you can find them. Do that and I'd bet good money it will break the loop you've been stuck in. Don't just worry and limp along; there's a way out if you keep asking. Good luck!

Go to your local pharmacy and ask if there are any over the counter medicines that you can take for arthritis.

My dad and bother have both had knee surgery and take over the counter medications that relieve the pain in their knees. I'm not sure what it is called. I would look it up but I do not live with either one. I know it is ortho something and it is in a blue box.

I believe your best bet is going to the pharmacist and asking what you can take. They will understand that you do not have insurance and need something over the counter.

Try fish oil pills. They are over an counter vitamin and pretty cheap. If it is arthritis then it will help to lube your joints.
