One of my friends has let me use his ankle/wrist weights. They weigh 2 1/2 pounds each. I wear they both on my legs every day to school. I mainly just walk in them. I try to put them on my wrist but my arms are just too small and they fall off. Is it better if I walk or run with them? And is there any better way to strengthen my legs and my arms? I know how to do push-ups I can bearly do five without falling to the floor with my arms hurting. What did I need to do?

i think that if you are using them actively as part of an aerobic workout i cant see how it could hurt. But as far as strengthening and toning goes if you lay on your side and do leg lifts, it works out your thighs, buttocks and abdomen. And if you are wondering, it will increase your muscles w/o bulkiness (lean muscle). i gain a little weight at one time and i did these (try different variations of the traditional leg lift) and my thigh flab melted away but also good just for toning. As far as the arms go maybe you can to free weights, which will allow you to start from an easier point than trying to lift your own weight. Hope this helps and good luck! :0 )

Legs - add some books (weight) to your backpack and start doing leg presses (stand up, slowly go down to a crouching position but not all the way down and then come up, repeat) OR add the weight and just walk more, your strength will naturally develop

Arms - if doing regular push-ups are too hard, try to do them with your knees bent (meaning knees are what are holding you up) You'll notice the amount of weight in the push-up cut in half

You can also add weights or books to your bacpack and try curling the bag or some other armmovements. See your gym teacher for proper technique, but you get the concept - add weight gradually as you get stronger.

Hope that helps !

No... you should never wear ankle weights, espeically while running. All you will do is increase your chance of injury. Wrist weights while walking is ok as long as you are actually pumping your arms while you walk... I don't think I would use wrist weights while running though.

Work you way up, set yourself targets!
So you can do 5 push ups, next time do 6, then 7 etc.
Don't rush, you WILL get there.

the leg and arm weights are good, do girl style pushups sets of ten until you build your muscles then switch to regular pushups

if you can do 5 pushups...do them...then work your way up. Do what you can now and set reasonable goals. Stick to them and you will be fine.
