not like they are born and they see you first thing.
but i have this cat the was dropped off at my place and he is about a year. i took care of him while he was here. real good care, fed, snuck him into my house on hold nights...
then my dad dropped him off at a farm, then a month later he came back. to me. he wnt follow, sleep with, grab their leg when they walk away or by, or get depresed when they arent there, with anyone else. he is literally my cat. when he gets scared or hungry or what not he comes to me. i feel like im his momma.

can cats get that kinda of attachment?

Yes they most certainly can, and do. You are this cats mommy. He knows you are the one that takes good care of him and loves him too.

YES!!! wink. My baby girl is exactly that. My baby girl. Lol.. I don't have kids and I got her at age 10.. she is going to be 19 in April!! I bottle fed her when her mother abandoned all her kittens for some strange reason. I kept her with me, and fed her and taught her hunting and as much as I could. I studied cat psychology and learned what words we have learned that they say... I did everything just like a Momma and she had the deepest attachment to me throughout her life. Yes, she goes in stages.. all cats do.. sometimes the people you live with are favored by your cat, but not for long.. wink. No worries if your cat does do that.. it is just a cat thing.. or a who is giving me the most stuff thing. Wink. And yes cats can find you if you leave them... they are known to travel cross COUNTRY to get to your door. They have a sense.. so do some dogs. If he gets scared and comes to you, sleeps with you, and gets depressed when you are not there.. you have a best friend ... and yep he probably does think you are Mommy. Teach him some of his own words....

This is serious.. dont laugh.. lol.. I study Psychology (have since I was 6) and Psychologists really did try to figure out cat language in the late 80's . We have found these to be For Sure words and meanings... depending on where you live in the country the sound may be a bit different.

Mhrrrn (Mur-n) HELLO

Mhrrm (Mur-now) I WANT (something)

A-Mhrn (ah-mern) Come here (you can use this yourself)

Mahowu (Ma-oh-ooh) usually sounds like (?) bewilderment

Rawr (rarrrr) this is bad.. high anger

Hiss is always "you deserved that, or you will deserve this"

Humming a tune (this is a warning before a strike)

These are a few..... and if you speak them your cat will learn.
My cat grew up with english and when we got another cat the new cat had all the words down pat and more... lol... it was funny because it proved the psychologists right. But my baby was not able to speak like her. Now she has learned from her a little... lol. She talks a lot more... most times it is just "AHH?" which is cute... but I try to teach her.. even at this age..

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!! xoxo to the kitty!!!!!

Absolutly they can! And it sounds like you have a child who fought desperatly hard to find their Mommy again! That's sweet!
My cats are my babies- they cuddle with me- lick my face when I cry- guard me when I am sick- and get mad at me when I leave the liter box a mess- they absolutly communicate with you- and let you know how important you are to them.
My cats know words- like when I say "Where's Mommy?" they just sit there looking at me as if to say "Stupid Mom- you are right there!" Then my friend comes over and he will hide- I will say "Where's Chris?" and they start tearing around the house until they find him- then they will MEOW so loudly until I find them sitting right in front of Chris- now I call him Daddy and they try to cuddle with him all the time- LOL and he isn't even a cat person! But I don't think they really care- they are going to win him over no matter what- it's been two years and they won't give up!

Mine does, but that might have to do with the fact that I needed to bottle feed her (and siblings) since 6 days old (their mom got out and was eaten by coyotes). All of the other cats were given away, and I worry about my cat as though she were my child (I have 6 grown children).

I definitely believe they can. My cat was hated my everybody but me, my mom and my dad. She would attack anybody else that came near her. We even had to lock her up when the electrician came once. She was named the Attack Cat. However, she would cuddle, purr, and lick us like she was just the most innocent thing ever. I think cats are wonderful like that.

No one REALLY knows this answer since no one really knows what cats think. I say they can definitely think of you like that. That's how I think of my cat, and she probably thinks that of me. She alwways knows to respect me. Even when I'm giving her a bath after she ran out or something, she never scratches me. She doesn't hiss at me either, and she comes when I call her. We sleep together and everything, so yes, I beleive they can think of you as their mother.

Cats consider humans their parents because they tend to them, care for them, and feed them. They may not need us, but they love us.

Actually, yes they can in a way. You are this cat's comfort, warmth, and food. So, in a way, you are his momma in that sense.

yes, you are his primary care giver. i have two but the male will sleep with me, allow me to kiss him and hold him. he "needs' to be missed while the female could care less.
