we were married at 5 months and I left after being married for 2 he was beginning to get abusive, do Its been almost a year since Ive seen him do I say Im seperated or single?

You are married, so you are separated not single. I can see why you want company but to be fair you need to tell them you are married. Have you filed for divorce? That would be the best solution.

Single, but if you meet a new guy make sure you tell him the situation right away, like on the first date.

if you got a divorce from him then you are single, but if you just up and left and have not got the divorce yet then you are separated.
