The fear of another Chernobyl disaster combined with the Three Mile Island incident has resulted in no nuclear power reactors being built in the United States in over 30 years. Nukes are the cleanest ways to produce massive amounts power and DO NOT CONTRIBUTE to the emission of carbon dioxide, which is cited as the main cause of global warming. As a result the US has burned coal and natural gas to generate power and in the process released billions and billions of tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
