Bo Derek had braids in 10, but why don't you see more white folks w/braided hairstyles, extensions & weaves? Especially, extensions & weaves...I mean, wouldn't that type of thing look good on any woman? I heard that white scalps can't 'support' tight braids & extensions, etc. The hair falls out.

I'm 1/2 black and 1/2 white and I love getting my hair "Did". But white women typically like to wash their hair all of the time and braids makes that difficult for them. I took a few of my white friends to my salon of choice to get their hair braided. They looked great, but they all said that their families complained about their new hair styles, they felt dirty because they couldn't wash their hair, and the braids gave them headaches because they weren't used to feeling their hair being pulled so tight. I don't think that their hair will fall out because I know plenty of white girls from the "ghetto" who keep their hair in braids often and their alright.
The only thing I will say that I don't like about white girls getting braids is the fact that they often make comments about it being like they feel as if they just went to get their hair done on an island or another country (as if African American hairstyles just isn't American).

Ummm, yes white ppl wear them! Butttt, IMO the braids look better on ppl of colour because our hair tends to be more course while caucasions' hair is usually softer and smoother -causing the braids to come out MUCH more easily...

I think that they can. The only only difference pertaining to the scalp is that African-American's scalps are dryer. That's why they have to use grease because they don't have built in natural oil like Caucasions do. This is probably why their scalps can take it better because their scalps aren't as sensitive.

Hi Nap Queen--
When I went to Belize--the ladies on the street braided my hair and my husbands in that style (his was very short--he's military!)
We loved it--it was so nice to not have to worry about our hair on the cruise--but we had to take them out within 2 days, because we were not used to the headaches.
We both had headaches from the tension--but it was nice while it lasted!

No, white hair is actually stronger than black hair, the problem is that white hair is smoother than black hair, and the braids and extensions simply fall out

If you think caucasians don't wear extensions, ask Jessica Simpson or her hair stylist Kaves

Yes, Caucasians can do the exact same things with their hair as African-Americans.
