i made 2 gas purchases in the last 2 days....and filled up and on my statements it does not appear..it shows i payed a dollar at both places...how does that work out?

It is approved initially for $1.00 because the approval goes through before you pump the gas (unless you go over your limit regularly, then it will be denied). The amount is not known until the system downloads the information from the bank that the gas station uses to your bank. depending on the time of day your purchase is made it can take up to 4 days for the exact amount to show up (the station downloads once per day, and the bank downloads once per day). If you notice the transaction is also listed on the statement as "pending". Your looking at your statement online, because all "pending" transactions are cleared before the paper statement goes out.

Hotels place a hold against your credit line untill you check out ,to make sure the money will be there.Check with your issuer to see if something like this is going on.

that happened to me too. I think the dollar purchase is just to put a hold on your card. Then later, they should deduct the correct amount.
