All apartment complexes have noise regulations. For example, after 10pm your stereo had better get turned down so that only YOU can hear it. Even if it was a condo you would still have to abide by regulations of the condo association. There was a case of a group of young people who bought a house. They used their garage for jamming sessions. The music was turned up very loud and disturbed one psycho in particular. He was very intense and told them to turn down the music. They, like you, maintained they could play music as loud as they want because it was their house. The psycho came by with his trusty revolver and after they were all dead the music got turned down. The moral is that you just can't go around disturbing the peace and quiet others want over your music.

Wow! It sounds like you live right above me. My upstairs neighbors frequently crank their music up, but all I can hear is the bass and that's just as annoying. I love music and have been a musician for over 40 years, but I do know that there is a decibel limit when playing music in an apartment. Like one of the other posters said this is done out of respect for your neighbors. Be considerate of them. When I play my keyboards, I wear earphones. When I play games on my computer, I wear earphones. This is because I do not want to impose my kind of music or any unwanted sound on the neighbors.
Remember, apartment walls are thin. I can even hear my upstairs neighbors having sex and I usually get up and go into the living room to turn the TV on so I can't hear it. Very annoying when you're trying to sleep.

There is a limit to how loud music should be. It damages your ears and hearing, and the noise pollution damages others' ears. It is better if you either use headphones (not reccomended but may help) or just turn the music down. Then your neighbors will stop calling the landlord.

Um...because, your apartment is not a place you OWN, it's a place you rent out every month. Other people, in your apartment complex, live above or below or right next door to you, and they shouldn't have to hear your loud music. You are disturbing THEIR right to have a quiet place to live. When you buy your OWN house, then you can play your music - but even THEN, not as loud as you want because you will have neighbors. The only way to play music as loud as you freaking want to is to be rich and live in a big house away from all people. Then you will annoy no one, except the wildlife. DUH!

Because your neighbors all pay their rent, too. They're entitled to enjoy peace and quiet in their own apartments. You don't have any more rights than anyone else.
Even if you buy a house, and play loud music after 10 PM, I think you'll have the police visiting. There ARE laws.

You can not just annoy people and expect them to like it. Everyone pays their rent and has a right not to hear loud music if they don't want to. If you have to have it loud, get earplugs, then everyones happy. If not you may want to live in the middle of nowhere totally alone and then blast away.

Because, Dumb Punk Kid, it is really inconsiderate to your neighbors. Would you like to have to listen to your neighbors blasting religious music or some other music that you might not like while trying to hear your TV set or your own music? If you really want to blast your music, just move to a place where you can do that. Out somewhere that doesn't have real close neighbors.

Apartment walls are thin baby! How would you like to be the neighbor with a noise sensitive headache or children who need sleep. Do something nice for others - headphones

Because "the walls have ears" and your neighbor may not like your style of music.

Because your freedom ends where another person's freedom begins; get a set of headphones and use 'em. It should only take you two or three weeks to learn how to use them.
