Stay low & ease into your turns. If track is wet then watch the turns when down low as most of the moisture will be in the lower edge of the track (at least for the first few laps). Do not over-correct the wheel if starting to spin/slide...always ease into the wheel on all turns!!! Drive easy your first few races just to get the feel behind the wheel in an actual race. As you get more experience week to week then take more chances (speed, slides and under-cutting/over taking other drivers). Always remember to show respect to the other drivers on the track because drivers wont forget you come the following races.
Also, do spend your $$$ money wisely on your car....fancy lettering, numbers, paint and chrome doesn't get you the checkered flag. (a can of Krylon and stencils make a car look good enough, especially since you are just starting) Put the needed money in the suspension, engine and safety! Good luck to you and stay safe!!!

If you have the $$, get a pro built car, or at least set-up assistance from experienced drivers and/or builders. Buy the best safety equipment you can afford. Get as much seat time as possible. While racing, be patient and drive clean. Do your best to get along with all the other drivers cuz they can make or break you. Put your $ into things that really matter, rather than chrome and fancy paint, cuz those things don't help you win the race. Typically, your payback will be in the enjoyment you get from racing, and not in cash.
Best of luck to ya! It's a great and extremely addictive sport and a paycheck shredding hobby, but you gotta love it!

Hey Katie, motocross will be more dangerous than playing piano but there are actually more injuries in high school football than in motocross. I have been racing since I was 10 and I have had very few injuries. As a matter of fact, I have broken more bones riding my mountain bike than I have racing. The best advice I can give is just see if your parents would go with you to a local race. Maybe once they see how family oriented of a sport it is they may change their mind.

This may sound horrible but my tip would be 'don't'
My son races motocross and supercross. Last year he broke his collarbone, his leg and his arm. He was knocked unconcious twice and yesterday will at the supercross he broke both his arms. I have also just heard that someone my son knows just died today racing at one of the tracks my boys race at all the time. The sport is really very dangerous and if you look up the australian rider Bronte Holland you will see that he has just lost the use of his legs forever racing Supercross in Adelaide.
Take up something less dangerous!

I've been trading the market for just a few months. My cousin actually told me about this website ( http://pennystocks.toptips.org ) and I signed up immediately after. This is my honest review about their method. I'm not someone who has a lot of time to be researching for ideas because I work many hours. they made it incredibly easy for me to make money in the market. Their reports are easy to read and follow. I've tracked most of the stock ideas that I've received in my e-mail from them and MANY have seen some nice gains after their announcements. I've made a nice profit (55% return on my investment on one, and 112% on the other!) on a couple of suggestions he's given and plan to start trading his ideas a lot more.

Type "proven chassis" into the Yahoo search engine. Click on the red "Proven Chassis" on the home page, then click on "technical help". You will see the settings for a starting point to set up a dirt late model and what to change to alter the characteristics (how to tighten or loosen it up, how to adjust for bite). Good luck.
