OK.....I was Vegan for 2 yrs & did well till I started getting horrible headaches & itchiness after I ate soy...It turned out that I am allergic to soy!!!
I have to eat eggs, cheese & meat to take care of my protein needs & now vegetarians kinda tick me off because they assume I don't care about animals....I love animals!!!
Why should I feel bad because I have to eat normally??? Do you ever think Vegetarians are overly judgemental or Whacko???

I love animals & do as much as I can to help them....it just hurts to be called a "Nazi" or "Animal torturer" by friends who are still vegan when they have NO IDEA how sick I was before I started eating meat again!!

i eat meat. and enjoy it, i love animals with no question, i was raised ten years or a little more on a farm, so i know the process

out of my group of friends about 11 are vegian's, i have never herd one of them ever put their views towards us,

i did a lot of entertaining a while back and many summer bbq i have to say i accomadate both the meat eaters and vegan, BUT, one bbq got out of hand one night and heres why

i do know one couple who decided no longer to be a vigan, after trying for three years, they just completed their last health check up , and instead of improving thier results, they were making it worse, she became animic, and had severe headaches all the time, she to found to have stomache aches, and the shakes, (she was not alergic to soy) her husband who was a vegan for about ninteen months, started loosing his weight and was also getting headaches, and for him diizzy spells, they where proper vegans and used suppliments to compansate their vegetarian diet, SO

they decided enough and had a big old juicy steak at the bbq i was having, well did jaws drop, the other vegan friends that were there, right away, how could you, why, dont you care or love animals, how could you eat a living thing, they did not want to hear about what being a vegetarian was doing to them health wise, they accused them of doing it all wrong , even though they used the same nutritionest as they do,

well needless to say this caused a heated debate between our vegan friends and our meat eater friends, and what a night, i have never up until that point ever hear them say anything to anyone , like the way they did that night, and true feelings started flying all over the place, after that we entertained both sides separtly, when we had our vegan friends over i served a vegetarian dish we all enjoyed including us, and our other friends our normal dinner or bbq

we had no choice to separate the two sets, as conflict and debate became an issue at every get together, this way everyone was happy

Whacko? No. Far too judgmental? Definitely.

Now, let me go ahead and say that I don't think ALL vegetarians are judgmental, but in my experience, I've personally found that there are plenty who assume that just because a person eats meat, that they don't care about animals... when this theory couldn't be further from the truth.

I think when someone feels strongly about something, they fight to the end over the issue and if someone doesn't agree with their ideas and beliefs, they're chastised to a degree over it. But honestly, it's human nature to want to believe something and want others around us to believe in whatever the issue is as much as we do.

Cat, you can get protein from beans and spelt (which, when cooked together taste great).

I do find vegetarians very judgmental and hypocritical. The vegetarians I know will criticize me for being a meat eater (I love animals also, on and off the plate) and at the drop of a hat, they will eat every hot dog in my house.

Yes...I think they usually have the attitude they are better than us meat eaters,BUT here's the part I don't get....the bible says forbidding others to eat meat is a "doctrine of the Devil",but I don't go preaching at them !What gives them the right to give me a hard time ?
Did you know there is not ONE recorded instance of a 100 yr old vegetarian ? But I know lots of 100 yr old farmers who eat bacon and eggs every day !!

I too was a Vegan for several years and became anaemic and now I eat meat occasionally. I think they just want to stop the animal cruelty and the numerous amounts of animals that die and are mistreated.

Yes, I do think they are judgmental. My wife and I would be vegans if we could survive and tolerate a vegan diet. We both found that we could not metabolize soy products, and no combination of foods seems to prevent us from having side effects, especially with our food allergies.

Not all of them....there are meat eaters who judge vegeratrians as well...Eat what you want and screw what others think. Do not over generalize about any one groups. There are enough "wackos" to go around.

i find vegetarians sometimes judgmental , but who isn't. they believe in something and feel strongly about it, I can respect that. Still won't change my stance on eating meats though.

Not all of them are judgemental. You can't stereotype everyone who is vegetarian. That's like saying everyone that eats meat is completely non-judgemental.
