I am 18 and was dating a guy that told me he was 22. I found out last night he is actually 29, why would he lie??

probably because he figured you'd be uncomfortable dating him with the 11 year age difference. Personally i'd be slightly suspicious of someone who is 29 who can't find someone his or her own age to date...he's almost thirty. I guess it depends on how long you've been dating and if he's tried anything sketchy. follow you're heart but remember: he's at a TOTALLY different place in life tahn you. you're young, just outta high school or almost out. he could have already been through college and grad school. He's been through stuff u havn't even thought of yet. I mean...he's old enough to have been married already.
just be careful. seems iffy to me. especially if he lied about it...not a good basis to the relationship

It's probably because he just really liked you, and didn't want to lose you because of the age difference. He knows that it's bad, and was afraid that the truth would complicate things. You should talk it out with him, and maybe it can still work out. Make an agreement to avoid lying at all costs.

first you should have asked to see an ID or some form of identification and now that you know the Truth you need to figure out if he told you anymore lies, and with that said age is just a number if you like him and you are happy with him and can find a way to forgive him then make it work

Just because of a thought that you will leave him after knowing the truth. Remember lie is a big enemy of love he is a cheater loves your body not your soul.

because he wants to play (no relationship) with girls?
because he is sick and prefers teens?
because he cant get someone around his age?
you need to find out if this guy is all sincere, normally guys and girls dont go for large gap like that unless its for sex, money or something other than sincere love.

i am 43 when i first started seeing my bf i was 40 he told me he was 32.. later on i found out he was 28.. they do that because they think you wont be interested in them if you know the real age

because he didn't want that to be a factor in your relationship...age is just a number. So if he makes you happy...why does it matter how old he is? But still he lied, so take that into account as well.

He didn't want to feel old and if he would have told you in the beginning he probably thought you would think he was to old and you wouldn't go out with him .

maybe he was afraid that you would mind the 'age gap', as you said, between you 2. but be cautious if he's hiding something bigger from you.
