my roomate had the bright idea to feed this poor cat that was literally on her last leg. It ate and rested into full recovery and left. But now, there is a mom cat and kittens and a whole bunch of other cats. We made the pact to not feed them anymore as hard or bad as it may sound, but they are still there, is there anything that will help us get rid of these cats?

Best thing to do is probably to call your local animal control, or do your best to trap them and take them to a shelter.

I agree..... you have to take them to a shelter.. but go to a no kill shelter because you have Young and strong cats there. Leaving them in the wild is putting them in danger. Domestic cats are actually the most violent of all the different types of cats, including lions, panthers, etc. This is because they are NOT meant to be in nature.. they are domestic... they are a danger to the wilderness and the wilderness is a danger to them. Not many people know that.. but psychology studied it. Anyway take them to a shelter or call one and ask if they know someone who will come to take them... I wouldn't call animal control beacuse they kill sometimes after just 2 weeks. Humane society or a no kill is best.. check your phone book and get the kitties to a safe place... I know its hard to not feed them and care for them but you really are doing the best thing by either finding them homes seperately or by giving them to a no kill shelter. Good luck!!

only a no kill shelter. this is a very serious problem we have in America. all of us cat lovers feel for this problem UN wanted pets. where i live they are passing a law that you have to have your pet spayed or neutered. wish us luck it will cut down on the unwanted pets. (if you are a breeder this does not apply to you and if you don't want to spay est you can pay more money for the animals license like $100.00 this is to keep people from just saying I want my animal to have babies because I like babies/ which is bull ) we are also trying to go no kill. it takes a while to go no kill because you have so many animals that go down in a week. what are they to do with the numbers and that is what it is a numbers game with the animals. your stray may be put down especially the mother. its so sad. animal lovers need to organize and solve some of these problems.

I would say call your local humane society as they have personnel there that can come and get these strays. Don't handle them your self as you have to think of rabies and don't want to take any chances. If you don't have a humane society, try calling some cat rescue places, they might be able to come and get the cats. Calling your local ACO (animal control officer) might be an idea for you to consider. The ACO should be able to advise you too. Don't continue to leave food out there for them either. You will never get rid of them and they will think they have a permanent home. More cats will come along, I don't think you would want that to happen. Hope this helps out a bit.

Absolutely! Please call your local SPCA or animal shelter (NOT an animal rights organization like peta, please) Your local shelter will take the strays and if they are are healthy & not feral, they should be able to find homes for them...especially the kittens; they deserve a chance for a safe home. If some of them are seriously ill, then it is much better for them to be humanely euthanized than to die a slow death with no one to care for them. Almost always, the local shelters will usually try their best to save an animal...euthanasia being a last resort only if the animal is seriously injured or terminally ill. Additionally, they will spay & neuter all the cats before they are placed for adoption. Please, consider doing this for the sake of the animals.

Contact the animal control division of the city or town where you live. They should be able to humanely trap the mom, and then get the kittens as well. That way, they can be neutered/spayed, get into good homes when they're bigger, and be pets for someone who wants and needs a pet.

Try and find them new homes, or contact your local NO KILL shelter. It is cruel not to be feeding them anymore. You started them in the habit of coming to you and you should continue.

Take them to the local humane society or SPCA in your area, so they will have a chance to be adopted.
