My fiance and I justpurchased a ring .30 carats V2, H, we paid $800 for the diamond. Did we overpay? The diamond is set in a .40 setting. (It's beautiful) the whole ring cost $1,300. I am concerned we overpaid.

Based on bluenile.com you over paid on the diamond.

Without knowing anymore about the setting or band or anything, I wouldn't be able to tell you if you overpaid or not. Although, $500 seems pretty reasonable for a band.

If you over paid...it's too late. Take it as a learning opportunity. You'll be spending a lot more money over the next year, learn to do your research before you purchase and don't let emotion push you to purchase before you're ready.

since you had it custom done it's not bad. If you had gone to a big box place and purchased a premade predesigned ring it probably would have been cheaper.
