What components does a bed need besides the mattress and the spring thingy?

I've never had to put one together before. Right now in our room we have the mattress and the thing that goes underneath it that has springs all over it. It's pretty low....what else is it supposed to have ....a bed rail? I want a bed thats pretty high. And when I stayed at a hotel recently they had something that went all the way around the bed, like wooden and their bed was pretty high. Clue me in please?

Either a bedframe and headboard (footboard optional) or a platform to lift it off the floor. Personally I prefer the platform, but then you need to find a friend who's handy to make it for you. But cover it with faux black leather and you'll have something that Ralph Lauren charges almost $2000 for in one of his stores.

Mattress, Box Springs, & headboard if you are planning to use one. Unless you are going to put your box springs and mattress on the floor, you will need the bed frame that holds it all together. I suggest you go to a store that has showrooms with beds and take a really good look to determine what you want. Believe me when I say that you don't want just a bed, U want a comfortable bed.

You are missing a bed frame, also my bed has a wood frame (sleigh bed) and it has the frame wood all around, and I would say it is about 2 feet off the floor.

A furniture store should be able to accomodate your request.

I'm wondering why you would come to this forum to ask that question. Shouldn't you just pick up the phone and call Sears? By the way I don't think Sears sells beds anymore.

Its called a bed frame just go to you bed store and they should hook you up with what you like.

Bed frame. The thing that you have underneath is your boxspring.
