Bush wants to "stay the course" even though he is not saying that anymore. Previously, he increased the US troop levels to 130000 (claiming that it would make a difference), and now he wants to increase it to 150000 (again, he said that it would make a difference). The truth is that the Americans will not make a big differnce unless they have like 300000+ troops in Iraq. (And the American public will probably not stand for that).
Other nations are just pulling out becuase they are concerned that Iraq has become a bottomless pit for death, misery and violence, so they want to spare themselves of the carnage, or they're like Tony Blair and want to "leave with dignity".
As for protecting Iraqis, the Americans probably kill more Iraqis then they save. I wouldn't be surprised if they American soldiers were guilty of multiple war crimes. (which they probably will never be charged for).

Bush is being stubborn and wants to stay in this war. Even though 2/3 of America wants to pull out, he's neglected them and just keeps adding soldiers. This war is going to end sometime soon in my opinion because I think Bush will finally come to his senses.
I hate when people says we lost though because they are forgetting one major thing. What about in March of 2003 when we destroyed the Iraqi government and over threw Saddam Hussein? I admit we can't stop terror, but that's not even a war, it's protecting the Iraqis.

B/C President Bush isn't jumping off the bridge with everyone else.
What people don't understand is that there are people that want to kill us. They are brought up to absolutly hate us. Yes, we may have made a lot of changes, but the job is not done.
No one likes war, b/c it's a bad thing. It is bad when people die, anyone, including president bush, will tell you that.
Let the democrats take office, then we will see what kind of mess we'll be in if we have to go to war. Yes, i said "if" but we shouldn't have to get to that point. Keep the ball in their court.
