Level 2 retention means there is 2 type of retentions for the gun to be drawn out of the holster. Example: a level 1 holster is just something simple like a thumb snap, which holds the gun in the holster. Level 2 maybe a thumb snap and a forward rocking motion to get the gun out of the holster. Lever 3 usually is a thumb snap, rocking motion, and another type of snap the goes completely around the holster.
