My 3 yr old shih tzu sleeps all the time. Is something wrong or is he just tried.

i have a 4 year old shih tzu. she is really hyper. but thats just my dog. dogs all have different personalities. even if they are the same breed. technically, my dog is 28 year years old now. but yours is 28. that is a really young age. i suggest you take her to the park, meet new dogs, and take her for a walk at least 4 times a week. that should get him realllly hyper. if that doesnt work, see a vet and take him normally for a check up

If he walked for a half mile or so, leave the dog alone. He deserves a nice nap after some excercise. But if he didn't do much, just went outside to take care of his business, something might be wrong. Try taking him out of his cage and playing with him. Take him for a walk. But if nothing works, go see your vet. Your Shih Tzu might be depressed.

I have a friend that has two shih tzus they do not sleep all the time but they are lap dogs and she takes them everywhere. I suggest you go to the vet to make sure there is nothing wrong.

These little doggies get Hypo Thyroid sometimes, mine did . They get lazy and they shed a lot. One little cheap thyroid pill once a day will fix this.
Have the vet run a blood test. This dog is too young to sleep all the time unless you don't play with it, or it doesn't have toys and it is depressed and lonely.

Normally, pets don't sleep that much. Check with your vet, to see what is wrong with it.
