Write letter or Email to S&W explaining the problem and they will tell you what to do to ship it to them for repair, which should only cost shipping & handling.

If your Airweight has a chrome finish and the finish is bubbling, you got one of their "crap era" guns. I would break off all the loose chrome and use the gun as a junk gun. It is not worth trying to salvage as eventually all the chrome is going to do the same thing.
(I bet that thing also has a crappy trigger pull also.)
