That model year Windstar was NOTORIOUS for head gasket failures. This has been an issue with this particular model since around 2000. An owner notification program from FoMoCo was released to address this issue under campaign number 00M09. However, due to the age of the vehicle, this campaign has long expired. The typical failure points on the engines of these vans would be coolant leaking into cylinders #3 and #4. The updated replacement head gasket kit which includes ALL necessary gaskets plus all new head bolts from Ford is part number F5PZ-6051-BB. You may want to replace the thermostat as well, should you choose to have the repair carried out to save on future labour costs. Hope this helps.
