I have a cocker spaniel and when I first brought her home she would scream if you touched her ears I couldn't even pet her. I took her to the vet the next day and she had severe ear infections,(I got her for free from an old lady who didn't want her anymore besides her ears she had mange all over her face, kennel cough, worms, and a fractured front leg) probably one of the grossest things I have ever seen. The vet cleaned out all of the infection from her ears and gave me some ear drops, I had to give her 5 drops in each ear twice a day for seven days. Now her ears are perfecly fine, Some dog breeds are more prone to ear infections so I clean her ears once a week with the solution from my vet and cotton balls. I use the vet that is at petsmart and Both of my dogs are on the wellness plan that is like $400 dollars a year but covers all visit charges and I get a discount on medications. They are also open on saturday and sundays, plus they are open later hours than most vets I have used before. I hope this helps and your puppy feels better soon!

If she lets you, look in her ear to see if there is any black paste stuff. If so, she probably has ear mites. You can get medicine over the counter for this. If the ear looks ok, you should take her to the vet. Sounds like she is in pain. Call around and ask what an exam would be. Sounds like you don't have a regular vet if you don't know if he/she is open on Saturday. Glad you love your dog, she loves you too!

I have a 10 week old Boston Terrier, and she would scratch her ears, and yelp really loud when she was doing it, so I took her to the vet, and he said that she had some kind of yeast in her ears, and gave me some drops for her. Yes most vets are open on Saturday

yes, a vet visit definitly sounds in order. It could be anywhere from a simple pain to a full blown infection that's causing it. Maybe even something more serious. My vet charges about $65 for a base visit, and they're a pretty top of the line clinic, so i would expect the price for a checkup to be somewhere around that amount.

call your vet at 8 am saturday...they will tell you how late they are open...and ask how much it will cost to get your dogs ears examined. she will tell you the base cost plus the cost of antibiotics or whatever the vet may consider needful...what i am trying to say is that she can give you a best guess of what you will need to spend. she can also tell you if there isnt an opening that day, how you can best treat the dogs ears until monday.

it sounds like she has an ear infection, many different breeds are prone to them....it wont be an expensive visit to the vet but it will probably require antibiotic treatment and that can usually be purchased right at the vet and you will have enough should your dogs ear or ears become a problem again

You need to take a look at her ear. Check the outside for nicks, stickers, etc. Then check inside. Is it red, smelly, greasy,or scratched from her own nails to relieve an itch? Is it possible you just startled her? Many ear problems can be treated at home if caught early. Please try to calmly evaluate the problem before you rush her to an emergency vet. If she has not had any other symptoms(like head shaking, ear scratching)then it is probably minor. If she has long hair and you wear a ring or bracelet it may have just caught on her hair. Please post again after you check her out .

it could have something wrong with its ear. check to see if it has any sores in or around it. but do take it to the vet. i don't know how much it will cost or if they are open on Saturdays some are and some are not you might want to call and see.

could be an infection or maybe a tick. see if she'll let you look. if there is drainage or a bad smell, it's probably infected. what kind of dog? some breeds are more prone to infection. most vets are open on saturday. don't know off hand how much it will cost.

Look at the inside of her ear - does it look dirty or smell bad?

She may have some sort of infection and will need to go to the vet.

She may just have a cut or sore on the outside of her ear, which may also need a trip to the vet.

Don't try and clean it yourself, let the vet do it!
