Obedience is better than disobedience

There is no lesson. Just what Moses recorded.

Lot, his wife, and his two daughters (Lot's property) were to: "Flee for your lives! Don't look back, and don't stop anywhere in the plain! Flee to the mountains or you will be swept away!"

But Lot's wife looked back, and she became a pillar of salt.

Don't eat from the tree of knowledge, don't look back. Sound familiar? Neither are lessons. Just observation.

I have learned that once I have been "delivered" from circumstances that were not "good" for me... not to look back at them. I form new relationships, don't frequent places I used to go, or "mourn" over where I had been in that past part of my life. It is to easy to once again become subject to situations we have left behind us if we want to keep looking back at them. In Lot's wife case it was also the test of obedience that she failed.

When we are told by GOD what we are supposed to do "looking back" is not a good option. HE expects us to be serious in our faith. We should be continually reading and studying HIS WORD so that we are not the type of wishy-washy person that follows whatever the new fad is. Have a great evening and a wonderful weekend.

That look of Lot's wife told on her secret love for the world and how little do people realize, "The friendship of the world is enmity with God".

Don't look back at (or love) the things of this world.

Jesus confirms this when He said, "No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God." (Luke 9:62)

John agrees by saying, "Stop loving the world and the things that are in the world. If anyone persists in loving the world, the Father's love is not in him." (I John 2:15)

Don't look back. the past is behind you and if you keep looking back and wondering what if- you will be destroyed. The future is in front of you and everything you need is in the future. Oh and most importantly to trust God and to obey God.

To obey God. From those verses I also get not to look back as in looking back on the past. It is the past and need not be remembered if one has sought forgiveness and repented.
