Good heavens please tell your friend the truth before you get caught out as lying can do this to you. I lied about my age in a work application I took 5 years off (my brother told me to) It was because of this that I got the job with the biscuit manufacturer so some times it is not all bad even though I feel so guilty and this is years later and after spending my earnings on a great holiday to Malaysia but back to your problem God will forgive but will your friend if she ever finds out and if you do not feel bad about it why are you worrying so do the right thing and in future try not to get yourself into such a situation that you have a need to lie...good luck

It looks to me like you're more interested in dancing, dating and horoscopes that serious religion, so let me run this by you: The Bible is just a book written a long time ago by men with vivid imaginations. Nothing will happen to you. If you feel bad about lying, that's different - though your friend shouldn't try to make you confess with such force. Don't worry. There are some scary people around here but in the end, the Bible's still just an old book.

You will continue to sink into the slime of humanity. The reason that you do not feel that bad is that your conscience is already dead. You do not realize that you are dead in sin and if you do not repent, when you die , you will be trapped in that dead body and realize it. You will feel every worm and spider and beetle that crawls on you. Consider all the people in the news lately that have died suddenly then think about what you are going to do for eternity trapped in death with demons tormenting you.

Well, MY Bible is God's Holy Word...I would never use it to "lie" to a "friend"...It means too much to me to be so flippant regarding it. Are you really being a friend to this person by lying to her? Asking forgiveness, both from God and from the friend, would be a step in the right direction..

Its just a book but you will probably go to Hell. Tough it out though don't ever tell your friend the truth. You can have a secret talk with God if it makes you feel better. Just don't tell anyone else. Liar liar pants on fire. Now you are punished go about your business.

kindness out of fear that you will go to hell isn't kindness, but guilt disguised as medication. what works for people w/ christianity is unconditional kindness to all. the hell stuff and the judgment stuff was made up because people didn't understand the complexities of kindness and how difficult it is to comprehend god's will. they assumed that others who devoted much if not all of their life to figuring it out must've been trying to denounce the value of kindness in an effort to avert them from being themselves. you couldnt let your friend figure out the truth... ok that seems pretty self explanatory to me. if everyone told everyone else everything that wasn't their business we'd be in big trouble.

Well you should repent regarding both things. Lying and in a way taking the Lords name in vain.

Nothing.

First off, God does not like lying but he never made a commandment against it. The commandment is "thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor".

If you did not bear false witness against someone it is not a good thing, but, it is not against God's law.

Even if it were, people are not saved by obeying the law, they are saved by believing in God, putting their faith in God. All the rules are good, but, keeping them does not get you into heaven. That silly idea is for non-Christians to judge Christians with.

Encourage people to live good lives and treat other people well and put your faith in God.

Was your hand on the holy bible...if not then don't worry because you could pretend that you swore on the satanic bible or the gun bible, or something like that.
