Since religion is a set of man made beliefs and rituals I enjoy that people are generally searching for a higher meaning to life ie.God or a high being that is not caught up in things that harm self, planet, or others. How quickly we get discouraged when considering war, prejudice, injustice, pollution, and other stupid things we do as humans. I like the precepts of doing the right thing and developing our insight to attain a character that is more in line with a higher being. Also many turn to religion because of a healthy fear of their consequenses for doing wrong ie. hell. As a student of many religions I have come to the conclusion that I need to develop a personal relationship with this largly unknowable God. Through personal revelation I find that the fortold Christ (Messiah) Jesus of Nazerath has the most appealing power and was God walking the earth (Emanuel, meaning God with us) to show us the way to live more meaningful lives. When I read the red words in the bible I can find nothing undisirable. No other god(s) have even done or taught what he did. Buddah=get enlightment=selfish, hindu=bliss out=many gods=appease angry gods=selfish, atheism=man in control=do my own thing=selfish=messed up planet, and I could go on. Jesus=love=forgiveness=service to others=salvation=God. I like the latter because I belive in a God of love even though I Don't understand the evil within us. I'm a sinner but I have a choice to accept His love and be forgiven. No other religion offers this that I know of. What other religious figure has recorded so many miracles? To bad religious people mess up the message and turn people off.

Well I see Eds is on here again , giving great answers as always. I agree with Eds, I also don't consider a personal relationship with Jesus (Yeshua) a religion. What I am most grateful for is that I belong to The One True Father ,and Son of all creation. That He loved me, and chose to die, to cleanse me from my sins, with His own perfect blood. The lamb of God came, and redeemed His lost family, like Boaz and Ruth, my kinsmen redeemer, Jew and Gentile, one New man, the veil has been rent from top to bottom, the wall of partition torn down,in Yeshua Ha Messiah,(Jesus The Messiah)

Well I grew up Catholic and have been very involved with our church and the youth group. What I like about our church is how we help each other. When someone's son needed a job someone in the church got him a job. When my father was in the hospital, the priest came to see him as well as other members of the church. When my sister died, people from the church brought food, helped with the arrangements and sewed a quilt at my house for my sister's coffin. What was even more amazing was that one of the teacher's who taught with my mom got other members and my family together and built my sister's coffin out of maple. We could have bought one but building one gave us closure and made us feel a little easier burying her. It was a hard time for my whole family and without asking people from my church was there. I think it has more to do with the people who attended our church than the catholic religion itself. I think that when you go to church whatever church you chose, you will find kind hearted people who are willing to be there for others. As a teenager I liked going to church and I liked the youth group. The youth group use to get together with other church's youth groups and have pizza parties or get togethers.

Religion? Forget it! All you get from organized religion is what is right and what is wrong based on texts that are thousands of years old.

Why not rise above and believe in your heart your instincts? See if you look at this quote, you'll get the idea. "In the faces of men and women, I see God." by Whitmore an 19th century guy.

Have a look at this site, it gives you a really good point. There are also books listed.

It's time to challenge religion and stand for the humanitarian heart!

You have my permission to write about it as you will.

My religion is Wicca.

Some things about Wicca that resonate for me:

-- The honoring of the Divine as both male and female, God and Goddess, and the view of the cycles of the universe as embodying the eternal dance of Their love. Because of this, Wiccans celebrate holy days that are attuned to the passing of the seasons as well as the solstices and equinoxes. This is not a case of "worshipping the creation rather than the creator"; see below.

-- The idea that the universe IS the body of the Divine (pantheism or panentheism), and that the Divine is not "out there" somewhere but all around us, in every breath we take and every beat of our heart. Because of this belief, our relationship with our God/dess is very intimate and essentially continuous... there is no alienation from God/dess, Who love Their creation so much that all are included in Their love, regardless of religious belief or lack thereof. There is no Hell, because mankind never "fell"; if there is an afterlife, all are accepted, and are refreshed and renewed before being reincarnated into another life.

-- The fact that every Wiccan is a priest or priestess: our religion makes no distinction between "congregation" and "priesthood". Because of this, each Wiccan is free (and indeed expected) to forge their own relationship with God/dess and to adapt and create their own liturgy, hymns, and rituals. If you're a creative person, Wicca is a very fulfilling religion to follow.

-- The healthy (in my opinion) attitude toward pleasure and sexuality, so long as it is pursued in accordance with the Rede. In the Charge of the Goddess, the Goddess says to us: "For behold, all acts of love and pleasure are My rituals." Wiccans have a long history of accepting gay people and celebrating their commitment to each other as spouses, as well as several denominations that are dedicated to LGBT members.

-- The history of Wicca. It's a very young religion, only getting off the ground in the 1950's. But being so close to our roots means that it is a young and vital faith, and very creative. Being so young makes it postmodern, and since I agree with many postmodern ideals I found that Wicca suited my world-view very well.

If you want objective (non-Wiccan) information about Wicca, you can try the Religioustolerance.org entry at:

Permission granted, but I doubt you'll get much help from my two cents.

I'm an atheist. This means I have no belief in any god.

In fact, I'm what's called a "strong" atheist, because I go one step further: I'm convinced there is no such thing as god.

As for what I like about being an atheist -- well, it's hard to say exactly. I like being free of all superstition. I like the knowledge that if there's to be any love and peace in my life, I have to be the one to put it there. I like not being afraid of being watched all the time.

Well my religion isn't technically a religion. Anyway it's Agnosticism. I'm Agnostic. What I like about being Agnostic is that I am able to keep an open mind about evrerything and anything. I also can determine for myself what I find to be logical or illogical. I can decide to accept what I find to be logical and reject what I find to be illogical.

You have my permission to write about/from this writing. I am a True Christian. I am most satisfied with our FATHER because HE sent HIS SON to be our perfect savior. HIS SON was born of a virgin; spent time teaching the Lost of Israel's Children; was betrayed by a follower; was brutally beaten & murdered on the Roman Cross; prayed for those who killed HIM; arose from the grave; walked among men; ascended into Heaven; and sent HIS Apostles to write our New Testament Book for Salvation. Our obedience is all that GOD Requires.

Study these scriptures and see what you think. To become a Christian:
1. HEAR - Romans 10:14 How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?
2. BELIEVE - In Mark 16:16, Jesus said “He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.”
3. REPENT - Luke 13:3 I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.
4. CONFESS CHRIST - 1 Timothy 6:12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
5. BE BAPTIZED - Romans 6:3-4 do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
6. CONTINUE TO BE FAITHFUL - Jesus said in Matthew 7:21 "Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.”
Send me a note if you have questions. I am anxious to hear from you. Have a Great day.
Eds

Christianity. I like that it states in the old Testament that to be saved is by following the Lawsas the Jews we told. And as we know no one is able to follow the law and be perfect except one. Jesus. The New testament states that to be saved. All we need as Gentiles is Faith. Faith in Jesus Christ as our savior and Lord. Do you think the Jews were somewhat angered by that?? I do.
