I mean is it all the recruiter pumps it up to be... probably not! I'm sure its not like any ol' 9-5 like they tell you... but I'm just wondering what I can expect when I enter the Air Force. Do other branches really think the Air Force has it the easiest. And how easy it to attend college while enlisted?

you're right, it's probably not what your recruiter has told you... but, i wouldn't trade it for anything else, i've been in over 8 yrs and love it. well, the hours you work depend on your job... and, even then it depends on what's going on at the moment. sometimes i work 8 hrs a day with an hour lunch, and sometimes i work 17 hrs and have to eat while i work. yes, the other branches consider the af to be the easiest, but that depends on what you consider easy, physical or mental stress (btw, i'm not saying that the other branches are dumb, they just have more of a need for physical labor than the af) . the af has the slowest promotion rate. i will definitely say that the we are babied when it comes to living quarters, whether it's housing or dorms... we have it better than the others. you're still going to deploy to the desert, and may not get a day off for your entire stay. the fitness program is no longer the easy street it used to be, but if you're in shape it's no big deal. i don't know what 'collage' let that guy above me get a degree, but it's not that easy... it certainly isn't impossible either, but it takes some serious time management skills when dealing with your job training, tdy's, and deployments. you'll likely have to attend online classes. good luck.

Actually yes, the Air Force is really sweet. I have been in 14 years and I love it! Yes plenty of time for collage, just finished my Bachelors. Some jobs do actually pull those hours, so don't write that off to quick. I work M-F 730 am to 430 pm. In all honesty, join the Air Force. You won't be sorry, and no I am not a recruiter, but an aircraft mechanic.

I don't know what Aircraft the people above work on but it must be sweet! My husband is a crew chief and works 12 hour days (2pm-2am), 6 days a week. He is currently in Iraq on his third tour in 12 months. I think that the people that says it's easy are the ones working 9-5 that don't actually have a technical job! My husband has been wrking towards his degree for 3 years now. With his schedule it is extremely hard for him to go to school. thank god for online classes!

i know the air force has the lowest physical fitness standards. I'm in AFJROTC right now and when we do PT we do it to the actual Air Force Standards. Ok I'm a 15 year old female and I MEET THE AIR FORCE PT STANDARDS.

your hours might be different if you were a pilot or some other job, but air craft mechanics do have normal hours, I used to be married to one.
