I own a 2001 (i believe?) Toshiba Techra S1 laptop.
I have lost the password, so I can't get into the computer.
I have the boot password, but not the password when you enter the welcome screen. I have tried pressing F8 and the first time i did it I pressed System restore I believe. now when I press F8 it just says which OS you want it to run on. All it says is professional. nothing special at the least. I have tried calling the people at the Toshiba place, and they said that they can't help me because my computer is out of warranty. And to get into it, it would cost me like freaking 50 Dollars just to get a solution. A**Holes. Please help.
If my dad finds out that I lost the password, I don't think that he will be very happy. Thank you and please answer.

As long as the LM hashes are still intact, you can crack the SAM file using Ophcrack and then gain access to the administrator(s) passwords. It's a live cd so you don't need to install anything on the hard drive - just burn the .iso to a blank disc and boot from the cd on your laptop. More info is here: http://ophcrack.sourceforge.net/

If the computer came with Windows already installed on it, there is a good possibility that the administrator password on the computer is blank. Boot the computer in Safe Mode, and when it comes to the log in screen select the Administrator account. Leave the password blank. Hopefully that will let you get in.

Once in, go to the control panel, click on the User icon, and reset the password for your regular account.

the F8 thing should have worked. you did boot it in safe mode and log on as administrator, right? did you press F8 once or multiple times? i find it easier to access the right screen when you press it constantly from start up till the right screen appears. thats all i have to say.

there is not any longer something you're able to do different than to reboot your device. you could take it to a close-by laptop shop so as that they could backup each factor you like by way of fact each factor would be deleted!!. Your laptop would be like variety new with all unique settings. so be arranged.

Try and get a computer specialist to maybe get into your computer and reset it. Maybe that will help.
