If the marks you are describing are honeycombed in structure, then you have mild burns from the hot water bottle. Add some cold water to the kettle before filling the bottle, (you shouldn't use boiling water in the bottle anyway as it corrodes the rubber), and wrap the bottle up in either a hand towel or special hot water bottle cover, and the marks should disappear in about a week. If you have diabetes though, you should not be using a hot water bottle at all, and should consult you doctor for further information.

It's most important that the water in your bottle is not too hot. Apart from the risk of burning yourself, boiling water also damages hot water bottles causing the rubber to perish more quickly. I always use tap water in mine and add a little cold if necessary. This way I don't need to cover the bottle and can safely hold it against my skin for maximum comfort and warmth.
Provided your condition is not painful, it does not sound too serious to me, but if it doesn't clear up in a few days I would see a doctor just to be sure.

Have you considered sleeping with a man instead?
Is it a rubber hot water bottle? Rubber on bare skin is not really a good idea. That might have indeed bruised you if you were moving in your sleep.

oops, they are what are called corned beef legs, old people get them from sitting near a fire to get warm.
Stop doing it and they will go,but have a bit of sympathy for the old dears who have only that way to get warm because of the price of gas and electricity.
I cant imagine a worse way to die than from freezing to death but it happens in this country to thousands of old people every year.
