Take an over the counter pain reliever and anti-inflammatory like Motrin or Aleve. For the first day or so, there's not a whole lot you can do to stop the pain--stopping the burning process, keeping it from getting infected or scarring, maybe. But, keeping it from hurting, sorry. The only thing that will do that is a pain killer. Make sure your not allergic to the med, and take only the lowest recommended dosages until the pain is alleviated. Immediately, you should immerse it in cool water- no ice, butter or bandaides. Honey is a natural option that bacteria can not live in so it's an old country remedy but I've never tried it. Seems to messy! Use a sensitive skin lotion or aloe to keep it hydrated after a few days of healing has passed.
Hope it gets better!

Burn your other hand to distract you from the first. (OK, I'm only kidding!)

Seriously, a little Tylenol goes a long way to help with the pain. If you prefer natural remedies over medicines, try massage or pressure point therapy just above the area thats burned. It helps mask the nerve impulses that tell your brain you are "in pain." But, just like others have said, wrap ice in a towel and rest your hand on it to cool it. Aloe used for sunburns also helps. DON'T put butter or honey on it. Like others have said, if you start to blister, the blister can get infected. Good luck.

Never, never, *never* put butter on a burn. It can cause infection. This is basic first aid. Don't directly apply ice either.

Put the burn under cold running water for about ten minutes.

Put ice in a towel and put it around the burned hand. Ovens are hot don't put your hand or penis, or toe or nose in it. Be careful. Let someone else run the oven.

I've always heard butter as the traditional burn-soother, but really anything cold to help cool it down will help ice, water, etc.
