reg,

There have been documented cases of cannibalism in situations where people were desperate enough to consider it instead of dying a slow death due to starvation. From what I understand, no one to this day has been charged with a crime, under those circumstances.

I think the law that would apply in this instance is one that details "Abuse" or "molestation" of a corpse. It's a catch-all law that deals with anything that anyone does to a corpse that isn't medically necessary or done by a licensed funeral director.

I tried to eat myself, but I kept on falling off the sofa and hitting my head on the coffee table

Who sez we can't?
The pioneers that tried to cross the Rockies during the late fall in their trek out west. Several historical records state that wagon trains that got snow bound, and/or sick, ate the ones that died.

There are several accounts of people that were lost or in a remote location plane crash, etc., ate the others.

Cannibals still do, but missionaries have just about stopped them.

Would you like someone to come up to you with a fork and a knife and eat you alive?
I would advise against that since it is against the law.

unless you are involved in a plane crash up in the mountains and no one can get to you that might and I emphasize might be the only time I would consider that as an option. But more likely I would let myself starve because that is just gross.

You can. Quite yucky if you ask me... and possibly a bit unethical. Other than the immediate thought of ewe, gross... Cannibalism is said to lead to mental disorders. Along the same lines of mad cow disease (cows eating cows or cow byproducts). Really it's just unhealthy. It does still exist in some tribes, watch some discovery channel...
