My pc is freaking old and has Windows 98. Don't tell me to upgrade my operating system because that's not an option at this time due to memory. I need to view a file which was sent to me in a .mp4 format. What is the simplest way to do so?

hi,

windows 98 honestly is going to be obsolete as vista is coming.

try downloading converters in the net and plug it in your windows media 9 player. or better yet download a converter from mp4 to wmv or mpg format.

Converting video file I usually use TOP Video Converter Standard, because it helps me convert various videos to AVI, WMV, MPEG, MP4, FLV, MKV, RM, 3GP, 3GPP2, MOV, SWF, and extracting AAC, AC3, MP3, OGG, RA, WAV and WMA from the videos.. So I can watch my ripped DVD movie and videos in the compatible format on my portable player like iPod, iPhone, etc. conveniently. it can clip your favorite segments freely, customize the output parameters, etc Hope it is helpful for you, good luck.

mp4 files are apple, and protected, unless you buy a converter, or quick time player will play them, but its spyware.
