Be patient really she should have only just left its mum at 8 weeks old . I tained ours by taking him out every 1/2 hour and praising him when he would wee. W hat ever you do dont rub her nose in it when she has done wrong . It will probably take a few weeks but if you keep at it you will have her trained in no time goood luck

Dont worry about it beeing cold, your pup will be fine she's not beeing kept out there for long periods. If you yourself dont like the weather, just wrap up warm. You should always start as you mean to go on.Do you want your pup going to the loo inside?if not then i advice you dont use paper, this slows the house training process down and confuses alot of pups, when it does come to putting them out side they think 'why should i?'Dont get me wrong some people do use paper etc and they have no problems but i find it more effective by teaching them straight away that they have to go in the garden. We brang my pup home at 10weeks old and straight away before even coming in the house we put him in the garden, where he went to the loo,he was house trained by 13weeks.When you do see her circle or if you have a little accident, pick her up say no loudly and firmly and put her in the garden, while walking to the back door with her say 'outside'your pup will come to learn that it has to go to the back door to let you know it wants the toilet.Be consistent and patient and in a few short weeks you will either have her house trained or be well on the way.Remember during housetraining your pup must be taken outside every hour and when she does go outside praise her.Good luck.

Basically you let it out to the toilet:

1. Every time it wakes up from sleeping.
2. After every meal.
3. After any energetic play.
4. Every 2 hours apart from these times.
5. As soon as you get up in a morning and just before you go to bed at night.

Praise it when it goes to the toilet outside.Despite what some people here will tell you never hit it or push it's face in the mess this will just make it nervous and possibly snappy with you.If it starts to go inside just say 'NO' in a harsh and loud voice and take it out then praise it as usual when it goes outside.

It will ask to go out during the day when it wants to after a month or so of this training but you can't expect a puppy to be dry all night till it's 6 months old as it just won't have a strong enough bladder till then.

Clean up accidents with a strong smelling disinfectant to stop her going over and over in the same place.

Main thing to remember is an 8 week old pup has little more bowel and bladder control than a young human baby

If you put papers down for her to go on, you will have trouble of breaking her from going indoors. I can't imagine why people would tell you to scold the puppy for circling around outdoors, as they will often do this when looking for just the right spot to take care of their business.
Keep your puppy on a schedule, taking her out first thing in the morning, last thing before retiring for the evening and about 10-15 minutes after she eats. While she is this young, you'll need to take her out at least once an hour, until she can learn some self control.
Make sure she gets plenty of praise for going outside, but do not punish her if she goes indoors unless you actually catch her in the act. If you do catch her, scold her and immediately take her outdoors, then praise her if she finishes up there.
Make sure you clean any accidents with white vinegar to get rid of the ammonia odor, or she'll just keep going in the same spot.

Your pup is definitely NOT too young to toilet train, but you do need to be patient, it will take a few weeks.
I dont recommend paper indoors, this will just encourage her to do it inside.
After sleep, food and exercise take her into the garden and praise whenever she performs. Tell her NO when she circles, but NEVER shout at pup for accidents. This will just set her back again. Whenever she looks likely to go, pick her up and take her outside. No matter how wet or cold, she's tougher than you think

Just get into a scehdule of going out side. Every 30 min. or when she wakes up, finishes drinking, finishes eating, or finishes playing. And when she does her business out side praise her alot. Only scold her when u catch her going inside. if u find a mess that she has already done and left for u dont scold her because she probably forgot about it. And never rub your dogs nose in her pee because that will ruin her nose, some people say to do it but u shouldn't. And shes young so it is ok to use newspapers but as soon as possible take them away. But even though u have the newspapers down you should still follow the bathroom schedule i mentioned above. And also if u catch her going inside scold her with a sharp no and bring her directly out side.!
Hope this helps!

I used newspaper for mine! I used to crinkle the paper with my hands so he got used to the sound! Every time he looked like he was going to go I would put him on it! When he did I would give him lots of praise!!! Make sure you have got plenty of paper down in one area. I used yo have alot down were he slept by the door in the front room!!! Once he gets used to it start moving it near the back door each day. Then once he has got used to that put some outside the back door! Also you can buy these new puppy training pads now that you can put down on the floor, there not that expensive!! My brother is using them for his new puppy and there working wonders!!! Good luck and I hope that has helped!!!!

8 weeks is a tiny baby, be patient! The technique is the same for potty training a baby; you prevent accidents with nappies, you put them on the potty, you praise them when they use it. You ignore accidents.

Make your pup a dog toilet area and just take her there every hour, praise her when she uses it. Ignore mistakes, never shout or punish.
When she's been she can have a short play, then back into her playpen or crate for a sleep. Don't let her roam around on the carpet unsupervised.

At that age she'll eat, sleep, toilet, play in cycles all day long so just get into a routine.

I believe in using the newspaper, then gradually move the newspaper toward the door. and then take the puppy outside often, when the pup goes outside, make a huge deal out of it and praise the dog with his favorite treat. Use treats for rewards for going outside.

Start as you mean to go on.

You need to be consistant for this to work and it is time consuming. Ive had all mine house trained with in a week, 2 max.

Basicaly once they have finished eating, playing and sleeping pick them up and take them out to the garden. Stay there with them until they have done a wee and/or poo, you may be there a while but dont give up cause its cold or your bored. Once they have done there stuff praise them like a nutter with high pitched voice and a nice treat, do it immediatly afetr they have done it, then take them back in again. If you keep this up they will learn very fast believe me. Most mine got cocky and learnt fast about treat rewards, as soon as they did there stuff they would run back in and sit at my feet waiting for the treat lol.

If they do have an accident just clean it up with any fuss. Dont use bleach or wash powder as they have a smell in them simular to urine (we cant smell it) and it encourages them to mess in doors.

Ive always used this method to great sucess but it is hard work. It means your taking them out alot and sometimes you might not see them wake and have an accident.

Crate training can also help through the night. Ive always crate trained. Dogs dont like messing in there own bed so learn to hold it, trick is not to have a big cage or they ca mess one side and still have a clean bed other side lol.

Good luck and stick with it.
