It's supposed to snow this weekend and my Jack Russell Terrier HATES the snow! He refuses to be out there any longer than necessary... and he doesn't even like that.

Problem is, though, that he normally gets his exercise outside (fetch, running in circles, long walks)

Little guy needs his exercise, or he's very unhappy. I need some creative things I can do with him indoors. We have limited space, can't really throw things, and he won't play tug-o-war - so, we can roll a ball around, but I'd like some more ideas.

I've tried to get him to wear a coat and booties, but I think he hates those more than the snow!

How can I entertain and exercise my little boy the next couple of days?!?

My friend used to live in a split level house. She would stand on the third floor, bounce a ball to the second against a wall, and it would go to the first below. The dog would wait at the bottom and run to the top floor to give us the ball. It didnt take a lot of space, but you had to have that style of house.

Another one of my friends had a hot tub that they filled up with water. She had her dog come in and he'd swim and play with her.

This friend also put her dog on the tredmill. She put it up against the wall so that he was protected and she sat on the other side.... Shed put it on very low... He definitely got his exercise!

Having him walk or trot on a treadmill is a good way for him to burn energy.

Hiding treats or toys around the house will keep him occupied as well. I would recommend using pieces of dog food so he doesn't end up eating too much.

Walk him on a tread mill and just make him play fetch by throwing a ball down the steps.

Do you have stairs in your house? If you do use them and throw a toy down for him to fetch and return to the top a few times. It makes for great exercise for the dog. Mine loves it when we play this game and give them exercise I can not do myself.

Well if he knows basic commands like sit, roll over, beg and ect. they will be a little more halpful. you can take a long box and cut it through the sides and put it upside down so it makes a little tunnel and he might have some fun with that. .

There are indoor frisbees they are the best. Balls of course. Try a lazer pen. That drives them nuts chasing it.
