I think so but with restrictions. There are alot of single mothers who may not be able to leave their kids but we live in a society where women have fought for equal rights and I think this is one of them. I served in a Gun Truck platoon with only men in Iraq and did just fine.

By the way in response to the other answer..I know plenty of women who are in COMBAT positions. The front lines have been redefined. I got bombed shot at and almost hit by a mortar...that sounds a little like combat to me!

Women should be drafted like men for all the roles that are currently legal. Men bear a disportionate burden of combat duties. Did you know that out of the 58,000 war dead suffered in Vietnam that only 8 were women?

We need to have an equitable way of sharing the burden based on physical differences. If men must bear the disporportionate share of the deaths, then men should get some disportionate share of rewards - and compensation. I'm just saying.

Absolutely.

Women want equal rights. It's about time they took the bad with the good that comes with that.

I'll take it a step further. I believe that military service should either be compulsory for both men and women, or that you should not be able to vote unless you have served in the military.

according to current selective service regulations, only men aged 18-26 are required to register, this is because in the event of a draft, most draftees would be needed as infantry replacements. since women are barred by law from combat assignments, it would not be necessary to draft women. also, women in the army and marine corps generally fill support roles, and society would be less willing to accept women being conscripted. in other countries such as israel, women are assigned to support and training positions and also do not fill front line combat roles. the majority of americans would never acept females being drafted.

No women have no business in the Military. Before you know it, there's accusations flying around all over the place that they have been raped. Whether it be true or not, they do more harm than good. The military would be better off sending troops of escorts instead of the women
