Just curious for a short story I am writing; I think they will each have to remain in fantasy land about their feelings, but could it even be possible anyway? The woman is the 34 yr old - does that still make her a pervert? And it's not illegal in this country.

What sort of question is this? Of course it is "possible." It may even be "legal" in your state.
Why in the world would you want a 17 year old, other than the obvious? They haven't lived enough life to be interesting. They haven't had enough boyfriends to be good at dating or sex. Hell the one I dated in high school didn't even like seeing herself naked, let alone showing me. A 34 year old should want nothing to do with a "woman" like that. Start dating your own age group.

The 34 year old has no business being with a 17 year old no matter what the circumstances. The responsible thing to do is to write about how they control their own actions and stick to people thier own age.

You aren't writing any short story and you know it. You have the hots for a 17 year old and you are looking for approval. Get a life, leave the 17 year old alone.

No offence, but moving on. One word: illegal!
But to make things juicy for your story I'd go with they have a quick fling... Very passionate but then the older women realizes the error of her ways and breaks it off. Then possibly the 17 year old gets obbsessive. The usual "If I can't have you, NO ONE CAN!"

no because the 17 year old is not that mature at least not in mind or experience with life and the 34 year old is a sexual predator and should stop

Unless you're in America, they can date. Why not? I've dated older men a lot, and it's been the best. 34 and 17 don't seem that bad - unless it's illegal...which it is in America. But "fancying" isn't an American term. =]

If its a short story and a fantasy one then you have the power to make it happen like it depends on the situation but you have to make it so that your readers won't feel sick reading about it.

Oh I would say its possible. I think age is nothing but a number, but like special-C said, you should wait a year intil the other is legal.
