Depends on where you are camping and for how long. Sometimes 10 things is too many. Sometimes it's nowhere near enough. A cell phone or sat phone is at the top of the list of the modern camping/survival/emergency supply list.

Generally speaking should be something like this.
1. Cell phone
2. Good shoes and socks
3. Shelter ( a tent that is no bigger or smaller then just what you need)
4. Good/bright LED flashlight
5. Good camp tool (Something that can cut and hammer like a hatchet)
6.Cord or rope for hanging things and tie thing down.
7. A good backpack that accepts a water bladder (like a camel bak or similar)
8. A first aid kit appropriate for the activities you plan on. (headache medicine, diarehea medicine, bug spray, and ALWAYS anti-histimine which is good for everything from mosquito bites to scorpion bites)
9.A peice of advice ... don't pack anything that smells good (food or perfume or deoderant)...bugs bears and everything else you don't wanna meet will think it smells good too!

In Black bear united states of america pepper spray would likely be superb, yet no longer in Brown bear united states of america. I artwork with the stuff and it would not continually provide up human beings so there is not any way it is going to continually provide up a bear. in the journey that your husband would by coincidence shot someone for a bear, he shouldn't own a gun. yet a gun is continually nicely acceptable assuming that you've an sufficient high quality. For Black bears no longer some thing below a .357 must be used. For Brown bears i'd not use some thing below a 40 4, and that is a "bear" minimum. Brown bears shouldn't likely be shot with hand guns. an excellent decision is continually a 12 gauge loaded with slugs and dollar shot. yet another reliable decision is a lever action rifle in .444marlin or .454. Many recommendations notwithstanding it truly does count on the position precisely you're camping out. so a recommendations because the youngsters pass, tutor them about guns. you do not remove all the knives from the residing house because of youngsters, or not at all enable them rigidity because of the probability. it really is all about preparation them, in simple terms as you do about knives and utilizing. so a recommendations as napping positons interior the tent, the bear can not open the door and are available in, napping positions do not truly count number. save your toddlers interior the middle with you and your husband on both area will be a touch safer. the biggest element is cleansing up your web site earlier mattress. Burn or remove all left overs and save your foodstuff in a locked and probability-free position. truly some camp grounds lately grant bear lockers, use them.
