Exactly. If you believe in Huitzilopochtli and he exists, you gain everything. If you believe in Huitzilopochtli and he doesn't exist, you lose nothing. So as long as you just believe in Huitzilopochtli, you can't possibly lose.

See? It makes perfect sense!

Why is it any safer? I think that believing in God is comforting not safe. I also think believing in God is harder than not believing like atheists... Having unconditional faith in something you can't prove is incredibly hard especially in this day and age.

While I am sure that many people are thick headed, not just atheists, I can tell you that my atheist husband believes that the only truths in life are the ones that can be proved. He is a scientist and believes in finding answers. For him there are too many questions about God and not enough answers. I will tell you that he envies me... There are so many times when he wished he believed in anything spiritual so that he could find hope and purpose beyond daily life. He isn't thick headed just too set in the idea that believing in what we can see, hear, smell, taste, and feel is all there is right now.

safer?? where's the danger?

oh yes i suppose you mean hell? but which hell am i to believe, the jews don't believe in it, i don't know what the muslims believe in, or the buhddists, or the hindu's or the other 1000 religions out there. the christians are certainly paranoid about hell but why should i side with them over all the other religions. after all if i become christian and the real god is muslim then guess what, you and i will burn in hell anyways.

so atheists just chose to stay out of the chaos and when that god comes, at least they'll have open minds.

I am embarassed that you possibly believe in the same religion as me.

I am catholic, but I am totally open minded about other people and their religions, I have the utmost respect for them, and their beliefs.

If you believe in God, then you should follow gods words, ''treat others as you would want to be treated", you wouldnt want Atheist to tell you that you are thickheaded because you believe in God, so why would you say that to Athiest people.

I truly believe that Athiest have their own rights to their own principles, and beliefs, you can also view Athiesm as another religion because they have all the aspects of it, I don't understand why people call them non believers, when they do have their own beliefs in how they should live life.

If you don't want others to bash on your religion, then don't judge them. I respect everyone of their choices and who they are, but if they are going to bash on my religion, I would look at them as immature, and disrepectful, because I would never bash on theirs.

I am incredibly religious, and that is why I have to do what my religion ask, BE GOOD TO OTHERS!! And its because I am so religious that I would take a stand for any one else's beliefs, because mine is important to me also. Dont call them thickheaded.

Atheists aren't thick headed. Most of them were raised to believe that there was no God. And if you say you believe in him because its "safer" you probably don't really believe. And believing in God does not allow you to go to Heaven, anyway. You have to accept Christ as your Saviour. SO believing in God does nothing for you.

Thickheaded? Maybe. I've got an electric drill and a tape measure. You can start with me and see, I guess.

Look up Pascal's Wager.

How do you know which is the right religion? What if you get sent to a different version of hell for believing in the wrong god?

If God knows everything, wouldn't he know you believe in him only because you are scared of going to hell?

If you believe in god, and follow his ways, and there is no God, haven't you wasted a lot of your life doing something unnecessary and unenjoyable? If you find it enjoyable, is it necessary to believe in god to follow the religion?

It's better to be thick headed than waiting for something that isn't going to happen. ex: the coming of the 2nd Messiah or going to heaven and spending eternal bliss with your creator. It's also better to be thick headed instead of living your life by what's written in some old book.
