One of the few good things I can say about my first husband is that he grew up in a family where it was not thought to be sick, perverted, or even abnormal for men to show affection toward one another by embracing.

His background was Mediterranean rather than northern European--seems the colder the climate, the less demonstrative people appear to be.

Our minds are just getting dirtier with each passing year, it's totally true. We can't interact as freely with people of the same sex as perhaps a few decades before. I think it's worse for men than women, because men just seem to be naturally more homophobic.

It is a travesty though, I hope it changes.

go to the mid east and other eastern countries.....men give each other a kiss on each cheek, they hug, and in some countries, its alright for men to walk down the street holding hands....nothing more than a sign of friendship.
