You can over cook it, however, the boiling water will not exceed 120 degrees, thus actually burning it would require burning the water, as in catching the water on fire.

If you take a boiled egg out of the boiling water and toss it into a fire, then it can burn.

you too can burn your boiled eggs! just give it a try and learn. when the water is pretty much boiled off then wait and be alert to the a pungent odor with a sulpherous tang. it begins to really stink! then you are on your way and you just waiting until the shells blacken and the kitchen is full of smoke and the fire alarm is going off. i heard of a neighbor calling the fire department about burned eggs! the answer is yes, yes, oh yes!

HOW IN THE HECK DO YOU BURN A BOILED EGG?? that is a sign for you to get out of the kitchen!!!!! What and i suppose you can burn water to.....lol jk jus kidding with ya!!!! but really how did this come about?

Yes, you can, even if you have water in the pan. Burning' causes the 'boiled egg white' to turn 'golden' in color, and makes the yolk taste even more 'sulfur-y' ... and you should not eat burned boiled eggs because they can give you horrid 'gas' ...

yes,, But it is very hard, I think you would hear the fire alarm going off before you had a chance to burn it, because it would burn the pan after the water evaporates out of the pot.

Funny you should ask that i did it yesterday.I forgot about it and the water boiled dry.The shell was a bit burnt looking and when I picked it up just crumbled.

You can burn the shell if you use one of those egg boiler contraptions, but the egg itself will be fine.
