i am cooking a duncan hines cake and i am out of eggs. i need to know if there are any handy egg substitutes that i could find around my kitchen?

Eggs are sort of basic to what a cake is and to omit them would result in something that's NOT what Duncan Hines envisioned. Without eggs, you're left with flour, milk, sugar, oil, flavoring, and a leavening agent. If you try it, let us know what comes out of the oven. My guess is that it will rise some because of the leavening. But it may be really dry and you may not like the texture.
I'm adding a reference for you because of the answerer who suggested mayonnaise as an egg substitute. I never thought of that and none of my cookbooks mentioned it either. However, it may be possible. Here's a leaflet on substitutions from Univ of Nebraska and - sure enough - mayo is a possibility (scroll to p. 2):

No, only the egg beater stuff maybe. I checked my cookbooks and they only list egg yolks for egg whites and vise versa.

sounds funny but mayo not sure on the amount but trust me it works
