As the good people above say, it's Uluru [ Aboriginal Name ] or Ayers Rock. It's about 500kms south of Alice Springs.
To the Aboriginal community, it is indeed a sacred rock which they respect as part of the greater order of natural wonders to which they are spiritually connected via the planet's wonders. It is their interpretation of the presence of the spiritual world.
I'm not sure if it's sandstone though. You'd better check.
There are numerous images of it on the internet, and for a tourist it is awesome as the sun changes the rocks colours through the day.
Yulara , at the entrance to Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park is 18 km from Ayers Rock / Uluru. Yulara , is the nearest service town catering for visitors to Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, although there are a few shops catering for the local tourists and aboriginal tribes folk who live in compounds near the Rock.

Uluru comes from the western desert languages spoken by the Anangu people. The specific language it comes from is Yankunytjatjara but the name is very similar in Pitjantjatjara. Uluru is composed of arkose, a course grained sandstone. Nearby Kata Tjuta is made of gravel conglomerate while the third mountain in the area, Atila, is a sandstone mesa with a rocky cap.
The old names for the three are Ayers Rock, the Olgas and Mt Connor.
