I agree- because if everyone perceived things in the same way, no one would be different. People wouldn't have any characteristics that would make them different from others. Perceiving things in different ways is what makes the world go round and this also makes people interesting.

John Keats said: "Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder"
Which,I think says roughly what your quote says.
This is why your best friend thinks that some guy is gorgeous and you think that he looks like a dog's dinner.
This is why you have differences of opinion over nearly everything.
A typical example is tonight's Oscars: tomorrow everyone will be saying "He shouldn't have won"
Politics is another good example: people can only have an OPINION.They can argue black and blue one thing, but the other half of the population are equally certain that the opposite is true.
If you hold up a red scarf to your mate and ask her what colour it is she will say red. But you can never be sure what actual colour she is "seeing" in her mind. It isobviously something she calls red but you can never KNOW what she is seeing.
No need to get too philosophical about this.
Just look on the Internet. In every set of answers people are taking opposite views because of the way they perceive things.
Little true joke to end:
Oscar Wilde and James Whistler were dining and Wilde stated that a painting was good.Whistler said: "You can only say that IN YOUR OPINION the painting is good"
Wilde was very impressed and said:
"I wish that I'd said that" Whistler replied:
"You will Oscar,you will"

I don't know whether you know it.But Wilde was notorious for pinching other people's witticisms.

"To each his own"

Perceptions are subjective.

In other words, I agree with the quote. Why? It's obvious--we're all different people with different histories, beliefs, morals, and knowledge. Naturally we perceive things based on that which makes us each unique (see previous sentence).

We all come from different places, even family members. No two people have the same experiences in their lifetimes, so their frames of reference are all different.
We bring all of our history to every experience. This influences our perceptions of events and their significance.
My sister and I are as different as night and day. We are 49 weeks apart in age. Our experiences were very different, as our personalities and interests took us in opposite directions. We now discuss our interpretations of various childhood events, and it amazing how we see things so differently.
