I know this sounds really immature, but my brother-in-law is constantly picking on me!!! And he doesn't do this with any of his other sister-in-laws. I don't know what it is. He purposely starts arguments with me. His fiance wanted to loose some weight. He said (in front of everyone), that he doesn't want her to be as skinny as me. People: I'm about 138 lbs. I wouldn't consider that skinny. As of late he made a "round-about" reference to me being a exotic dancer once upon a time. I wouldn't have a problem with this except that I've never did any such thing!!! I guess he is humored by all of this. He is in his LATE 20's so there is no excuse for it. I'm just looking for a little insight. I don't want there to be a problem between me and my in-laws. But if this keeps up, there very well might be.

I mean, am I just being TOO sensitive?

We all joke and kid each other. I just think when it gets to a "sexual nature" ( i.e. exotic dancing), then it's gone too far. The idea is to have a good time, not make anyone feel uncomfortable.

BTW, I did mention it to my husband. It kind of caused an arguement (just because this isn't the first time I've mentioned it). His brother is older than both of us, so he my be a little intimidated. Not really sure.......

You are way more patient than I could ever be. The next time he makes a comment like the exotic dancer thing I would just stop what I was doing and look his straight in the eye and ask "what is your problem with me? Are you jealous of me or my husband? Something is going on and I am tired of you treating me like dirt!" Then I would wait for an answer.

Then again that is me and I can have a temper now and then.

wow honey i have the same exact problem. Just the thing with my brother in law is that he is immature, unemployed, no life really, and i think very envious of his brother! the guy im dating. I think it's issues with himself, i've embarassed him a few times, and that comfort level of joking with me is not there anymore. THat's what i would say, just say your jokes aren't funny, i don't like them, STOP doing them!

Have you mentioned this to your husband? He may not think it's a big deal unless he knows how you feel about it.

Since it's his brother, it will be much easier for him to deal with. My guess is that he'll have no trouble being straight-forward with his brother and get him to stop.
