I held the door open a few times today helping in a hospital, as they roll out patients to another floor.

I have worked with the homeless and the needy since the 80's. This is a calling from God for me to do this. And I can tell you I truly know the meaning of the Biblical verse, "It is more Blessed to give than to receive." I have a soft spot for the elderly & children & a struggling Mom that needs a little help to get her & the children over the hump until payday. The elderly & the children are precious.
You are correct, just holding the door opens allows those who thinks no one cares will ignite a spark & a twinkle in the eyes.

I always take a cab home from work because I work until 10pm or later. Usually there are lots of available cabs on Friday night but last night there wasn't a cab to be found. So I was standing out there at the cab stand in the cold, very very tired, and these young women came out of the hotel and started waving down cabs right in front of me. One finally stopped for them and instead of blithely getting in, they turned to me and said "you were here first, do you want a cab?" Luckily, another available cab was cruising by so I thanked them and grabbed the other cab (so we all got cabs). I think this is the first time any young person has bothered to try to be fair when vacant cabs are that scarce--usually they just pretend you aren't there.

I'm a vegan, the vegan lifestyle itself is an act of kindness for animals. It saves the lives of appx 100 animals per year, per vegan.

Aside from that, my sister had to get up before 5am yesterday. She had do a double-shift. She sat in the living room all groggy, so I made her some tea. I even timed the brewing so that it wasn't bitter. (we live together)

Shower and use deodorant everyday.

More seriously I listened patiently to some poor soul doing a random phone survey thing instead of cutting them short and hanging up.

I bought my elderly neighbor a pair of shoes today. While she was at my house she peed blood, so I anointed her head with oil and prayed for her. Not to mention when my husbands X called my cellphone first thing this morning, I was very polite to her, even though she doesn't even answer the phone to let his kids talk to him when he calls them.

I picked up a cell phone I found on the side of the street....called about 40 people on the cell calls list.....and tried getting it back to the person. It didn't quite work out...but that's another story.

I had to write a reference for someone recently and post it on to their prospective employer using the SAE they'd sent to me. The applicant had understamped the SAE. I added the extra postage myself.

yesterday I came upon an elderly woman walking down the street in the bitter cold, so I asked her if she needed a ride somewhere. she wasn't going far, so she gratefully declined.
