500 calories a day is WAY too few. You shouldn't dip below 1200. Remember that you burn calories just by walking, talking, breathing, etc. If you cut your calories too drastically, your body will think you're starving, and will conserve all its energy. This will actually make you gain weight, rather than losing. It's better to be healthy!!

500 calories a day is too low, like the other person said, you'll most likely end up dying if you do that over an extended period of time. To lose weight, what you need to do first is determine how many calories you can eat to break even (meaning that you won't gain weight or lose weight). Once you know that number (being a female, you're most likely in the 1200-1800 cal./day range), you can then target your daily calories at a level less than the break even point (called you BMR). Just don't go more than 500 calories/day less than you BMR because that's not healthy. To raise you BMR, you can lift weights to add some more muscle.

You burn about 1500 calories/day by waking up and moving around. You'll burn an additional 1000 calories/day by doing something active. If you eat 500 calories a day, you'll end up starving yourself and looking very unattractive. Women who are too skinny are just as unattractive as women who are too fat.

I recommend you try being active and eating healthy foods for 1 year. Throw away your bathroom scale, stop counting calories and stop obsessing over the way you look. I guarantee confidence is more attractive to men than loosing a few pounds.

You burn 64 calories an hour just by sleeping so if you eat 500 calories a day you'd be well into negative calorie consumption for that day which is dangerous. Also your body will probably be crying out for food after a week, and bingeing is likely. its best to go slow, there's more chance you'll stick with it.

No, it still means you consumed 500 calories. But don't do that! That is 1/4 of the calories you need. If you are just starting, I would start at 1,500 calories, since we usually eat 2,000 and you don't want to make yourself sick.

You are going to go crazy trying a insane diet like this. Eat between 1200-1600 cals a day, exercise 3-4 times a week. Take it easy.

OMG! i mean my friends tell me that i shouldn't eat that small of calories and i eat 600-1000 a day. but i burn most of it off. i really wouldn't suggest only eating 500 calories a day i don't think it's that healthy.

I get so sick of question like this. Everyone has health class in school. Everyone know the less you eat the more your body stores because it thinks your starving. Stop asking question you already know!
