Go to your local credit bureau, if there is one. I worked at the credit bureau in my town for a lot of years, and anyone who wanted to go over theirs and discuss what they could do to improve it was always welcome. They do not charge for this, at least mine didn't unless they were not turned down for credit. Then there was a small charge. If they were turned down there was no charge. There is a record to show who inquired about you and if you were turned down by someone they will know if they actually checked on your credit report. So you can't go there and say Visa turned you down just to go over your credit history, they will know if Visa actually inquired.

Some mortgage brokers or loan officers at banks / credit unions (where you have an account) may sit down with you to go over your credit reports.

Don't have somebody else pull your reports; pull your own credit reports from each of three credit reporting agencies by going to www.annualcreditreport.com (you receive one report free per year from each CRA as mandated by law).

Whatever you decide, congratulations for wanting to learn how to decipher your credit reports. Once you learn, you'll see just how easy it is to separate good "tradelines" from bad tradelines.

Go to a bank. Ask for customer service.
