Drugs CAN interact despite working in different "areas" of the body. If they are metabolized in the same way, they will compete for the enzymes and the concentration in the blood can become too high and cause toxicities and side effects. There are many other ways in which drugs can interact.

However, my class notes on this class of antibiotics suggests it does not have have any interactions with Prevacid in particular, and my other research hasn't turned up any evidence, but you should look at the packet information that came with them and see if the Prevacid says to not take it with Quinolone antibiotics and check the Cipro packet to make sure it doesn't say not to take it with a Proton Pump Inhibitor.

On a side note, it's important that you not take your Cipro with milk as less of it will be absorbed into your body and it will be ineffective.

hi, i'm 16 been on Lansoprazole (prevacid) for a year now. I have GERD which is Acid Reflux Disease. you are supposed to take the pill at least 30 minutes before you eat any meal. I am always nauseated so, idk if it is the pill or not that is making you nauseated. i don't eat in the mornings either BUT your acid reflux is always worse in the morning which is why it is good to take it in the mornings even if you don't eat anything.

Call a local pharmacy and ask them, they will check it out free of charge and tell you right away. Mixing drugs isn't advice you ask the general public, it is something you get professional opinions on, we are talking about potentially serious consequences here!
