No, but then it wasn't entirely our fault.

Yes, I am. Christianity has made a big impact on our civilization. There have been mistakes along the way, but no movement or religion in this world can claim perfection. Jesus Christ never promised that the Church he will found in Peter will be a perfect Church.
Peace and every blessing!

history is always a mixed bag: the U.S. for example, is the most benevolent nation on earth in terms of giving to the poor in other nations, but we are some serious war-mongers. Christianity is no different. There are things to be proud of and things to be ashamed of.

I am proud of the history of true Christians, who have suffered persecution, often at the hands of false Christians; left homes and loved ones to travel to far way lands to give others the opportunity to hear of God's love as declared in the message of the cross of Christ. I am proud of those who have cured the sick, started hospitals, and orphanages, assisted the needy, fed the starving, clothed the naked, and lived lives of kindness, generosity and integrity, and in some cases laid down their lives for the sake of the Gospel. I am proud of my young brother who laid down his life in Northern Iraq a short time ago, being crucified at the age of 14 for the "crime" of sharing his faith. I am proud of the thousands suffering in Communist and Muslim and Hindu lands today, because they refuse to forsake their love and faith in the Lord who bought them, at the cost of His own blood.
Yes, of these I am proud, but the history of the true church is largely unknown to the world, being overshadowed by the crimes of the hypocrites.

i'm proud that the original church was able to incorporate other religions into their own, turning it into the dominant faith almost overnight. it was very clever of them.

yet at the same time, I'm quite anguished over the crusades and inquisitions that happened meanwhile. they gave the religion a bad name.
