I understand what you're saying completely, but let's be fair, it's all religions that are self righteous, judgmental, and naive, not just Christianity.

just try to keep in mind that for the few stink heads on here their are many more who truly want to help others. i just give all the idiots a thumbs down for their idiot answers and report abuse when they speak of hurting children or animals. also when the degrade someone who has a legitimate question and maybe isn't as smart as every one else here. that doesn't mean they need to be talked down to. as for what to do to ensure your child doesn't have a holier than thou att., teach him/her to be open minded and not to judge others. it sounds like you have a good head on your shoulders. by the way i am a christian and i do not fall into the stereotype you have just put me in by being judgmental.

I dont think becoming a christian makes it okay to be judgmental. How do you know there is even such thing as god to forgive you? Just think how you want to think. If your hurting peoples feelings then thats not right, but believing in God, doesnt make it okay to be judgmental.

Just because some christian are judgemental doesn't mean they all are. Most christians understand that god is the only one who can judge people. Some people are murderers and rapist does that mean they all are? I live by the words "he who is without sin cast the first stone". Everyone has sinned so no one has the right to judge.

Do not get angry....
Believe it or not, not ALL Christians are self rightous *** holes.
How do you ensure your chld does not grow up like that... to not model it. As much as I understand how you feel... you are being judgemental right now about Christians.
I generally tell my kids that "Some people just don't get it... they never will. It really is a pity, isn't it?"

If you are being "judged" by people that are calling themselves Christians then they are not really what they say they are. You have the right to believe in what you believe. I am a Christian and the Bible and the words of Jesus say that we are not to judge one another and if these people really were Christians they would be kind toward you and your beliefs, even if they don't agree.
take care.

I grew up in a non religion home, and I have gotten into church myself. You can let them decide on their own, but even children who aren't raised in God's word think they are "holier than thou." So, if you raise them with the right fundamentals, they should be okay. My husband was raised in a completely Christian house, and he is one of the most humble people i know. So.. it all depends on how YOU raise them!

By trying to keep from being judgemental as a christian, you've become judgemental as an athiest. If you wanna keep your kid from being judgemental don't judge others yourself.

Just stay the way you are.
Your child will learn your attitudes and will ultimately make his/her own decision.
